It was the first day that the sun stayed consistently out (despite the blustery winds) and it just made everything seem so much better.
I decided to get up (relatively) early and have a little wander around Deptford Market; a delightful little flea market which always delights and surprises every time you go. The earlier the better, as all the golden finds will get snapped up within the blink of an eye.
After a few minutes looking through the piles of miss-matched cutlery and cat ornaments, I came across a cardboard box full of dress making patterns. All vintage and pretty much all 60's. I am obsessed with the 60's at the moment so this filled me up with a warm fuzzy feeling. I could actually make replica dresses that would be to the precise fashions of the period. I want my summer to be a 60's hippy paradise full of sunshine, love, friends and dancing. I have already started planning my birthday (in June) with a 60's theme with period music and swinging vibes. After all this 60's excitement i managed to narrow the bundles of patterns i had quickly swooped up to 11 patterns at 50p each. I also found a 60's mix tape which will go down a treat at the preempted party!
After spending my ten pounds pocket money i had kindly awarded to myself, i decided to take my self for a reflective orange juice at the Deptford Project (above). It's the most perfect place to be for a coffee and a healthy lunch, and to just treat yourself to a bit of 'me time'. I love to go there after my weekly visit to Deptford flea market and have a thorough look at my purchases.
The cafe is a converted tube carriage that's been lifted off the ground and is surrounded by lovely decking. It is furnished with miss-matched chairs and table, with every piece oozing with character and history. I love the quirky, slightly rough-around-the-edges feel to the place that instantly makes anyone feel at home. Natural lights pours in through both sides of the carriage walls that just makes you feel warm inside.
I think if someone were to ask me where one of my favourite places to be are, this would certainly be in the top five.
My best friend (and new house house mate) Sarah joined me for a cake later on and afterward, we had a last minute rummage through the tables at the flea market. We came across a box of inks which featured an aptly named Vomit Brown shade. Hilarious.
Later on in the evening Sarah and I caught up with some of our other friends and we went to see a show at the Soho Comedy Theatre featuring standup artist Nathan Dean Williams. He was brilliant and i wish i could have taken photos during the performance, but alas, i managed to take a quick shot afterward. Yes, that is a blow up doll. You will have to go to one of his shows to find out what that's all about.
A wonderful night ended in a funny bus ride home with housemate Ashley and hilarious friend Lily, stuffing their faces with Subway...
